Amentum is now the industrial partner in CRADLE, bringing its experience in applied robotics and autonomous systems together with research expertise at The University of Manchester to create a collaborative research centre that is internationally leading and sustainable.
This follows the completion of Amentum’s merger with Jacobs’ Critical Mission Solutions and Cyber and Intelligence businesses, plans for which were first announced in November 2023.
The merged company will operate under the Amentum name, expanding its capabilities as a global, advanced engineering and technology solutions company. It will have more than 6,000 people in the UK, working mainly on nuclear and defence projects for clients including AWE, Sellafield, MOD, EDF and UKAEA.
Globally, Amentum will have revenues of $14 billion in 2024/25, with more than 53,000 dedicated employees across 80 countries on all seven continents and a listing on the New York Stock Exchange.
The combined business brings together more than 50 years’ experience of deploying robotic systems in some of the most challenging and hazardous environments, including operating nuclear power stations and complex decommissioning sites such as Sellafield and Fukushima.
Amentum’s values are based on an unwavering commitment to safety, delivering on commitments, creating new solutions through innovation and technology, embracing diversity and collaboration and the continued development of its people.
Andy White, who leads Amentum Energy and Environment International, said: “Our collaboration with The University of Manchester at the CRADLE Prosperity Partnership and the Dalton Institute is vitally important in keeping us at the forefront of technological advances in robotics, materials science and chemistry which are relevant to the customers we serve.
“Three Amentum staff members are visiting professors at the university and several of our subject matter experts hold visiting researcher status.
“Amentum is determined to build on our 60-year heritage in the UK, retaining and growing our talented team of the very best engineering, technical, scientific and programme management expertise.
“We will continue to attract new talent into the industry at scale, expand our digital capabilities and enhance our research, technology and development base.”
